Creator Rules tracks one thing and tries to do it properly: the rules that decide whether creators get paid.
Monetization thresholds, eligibility criteria, payout terms and policy deadlines change more often than most people realise, and when they change, somebody’s income changes with them. YouTube doubled its watch-hour requirement in August 2026. TikTok has rewritten its rewards programme more than once. Twitch keeps adjusting the line between Affiliate and Partner. The announcements are public, but they are scattered across help centres, blog posts and support pages, and they are rarely written in plain language.
This site collects them in one place and keeps them current.
How we work
Every number comes from the platform. Thresholds, dates and payout figures are taken from the platform’s own help pages, terms of service or official announcements, not from other blogs. Where a figure is disputed or unclear, we say so rather than guessing.
Sources are linked. If we tell you a requirement is 8,000 hours, you can click through and check it yourself. You should.
Pages are dated and updated. Rules change, so an article that was right in August can be wrong in November. Every page carries the date it was last checked. When a platform changes something, we go back and revise the page rather than publishing a second article that contradicts the first.
We don’t chase rumours. Plenty of sites report what a platform might do next. We wait until something is confirmed, because a creator who reorganises their channel around a rumour has wasted months.

Creator Rules is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube, Google, TikTok, ByteDance, Twitch, Amazon, Meta or any other platform. Platform names and logos belong to their owners and appear here for identification and commentary only.
Nothing here is legal, financial or tax advice, and none of it replaces the platform’s own terms. We aim to explain those terms accurately and in plain English. Before you make a decision that affects your income, read the official documentation as well.
We also do not sell channel growth services, coaching or software, and we do not take payment from platforms to write about them.
Corrections
If you find a figure or a date on this site that is wrong, please tell us. On a site about rules, an error is not a typo, it is a page that could cost somebody money. Write to [email protected] with the page and what is incorrect, and we will check it against the source and fix it.
How the site is funded
Creator Rules will carry advertising. Advertising has no influence on what we write or which platforms we cover. When advertising is introduced, the privacy policy will be updated first to explain exactly what is loaded and what it processes.
